Welcome to The Coffee Movement, a gem nestled in the vibrant streets of San Francisco. While it may be small in size, it packs a potent punch when it comes to crafting exceptional coffee experiences. This coffee shop defines what it means to be a third-wave coffee house, championing the art of coffee preparation with precision and passion.

As you step in, you’ll feel the genuine warmth of the baristas who are dedicated to their craft. Each drink reflects a commitment to quality and flavor, with menus that are thoughtfully curated. Features like their Cocoa Cappuccino, dusted with dark chocolate for a rich finish, and the Honey Lavender Latte, a delightful blend of seasonal syrup, raw honey, and aromatic lavender, are sure to awaken your senses. For the adventurous, the Espresso Tonic combines robust espresso with qtonic’s crisp effervescence—perfect for those warm sunny days.

Not to be overlooked, the Ginger Spice Latte and the Masala Chai Latte evoke warming, comforting sensations, ideal for fueling your morning routine or celebrating the arrival of fall. Each sip transports you to a cozy haven infused with seasonal charm.

While the delightful drinks take center stage, you’ll notice that seating options at The Coffee Movement are limited. Customers share their experiences with the café’s outdoor bar counters, where one can sip their beloved drinks amidst the bustle of the neighborhood. Despite its cozy size, the quick-moving lines speak volumes about its popularity and efficiency, as evidenced by Magali Gutierrez who mentioned, “There was a long line when I arrived, but it moved quickly.” So grab your drink and embrace a takeout experience, perhaps walking to nearby Washington Square Park for a scenic coffee break.

Customer reviews emphasize the artistry and integrity behind each cup. For coffee aficionados, Bryce Richardson describes The Coffee Movement as “probably the best in the city,” praising the meticulous service and the ability to taste a variety through their tasting flight. This balance of superb service and soulful brews creates a truly memorable experience.

For those visiting, keep in mind that pastries tend to sell out quickly, so arriving early is advised if you’re looking to indulge in a pastry alongside your caffeine fix, as mentioned by Sarina Iwai. And while you might find the seating a bit cramped, the staff ensures that you're treated to a friendly atmosphere—something that Sophie Litton appreciates during her regular visits.

In summary, The Coffee Movement isn’t just a coffee shop. It's a community where you sip thoughtfully crafted beverages and connect with fellow coffee lovers through the shared passion for quality. Grab a drink, take a deep breath, and let the flavors of San Francisco elevate your day.

Cute small cafe! Their pastry options didn’t look all that appealing yet you can tell they specialize in coffee. It was nice how there was no extra charge for oat milk in my latte. Both me and my husband ordered iced oat latte. We found both of our coffee to be too mild. We got extra shots. It seems like their oat milk is on the sweeter side with artificial sweetener. Didn’t appreciate it. Espresso was not complex in terms of flavor. It was not the bold lattes we were hoping for. Espresso was too mild and uninteresting for us. Nevertheless, liked the vibe, friendliness of the staff. We went 8:40am on Sunday and there was no line.

Came here from a recommendation from another barista as "probably the best in the city" and from my experience it definitely was. This was exactly what I was looking for, great coffee/espresso, service, and a focus on the craft. I tried to sample as much as the menu as possible. The cortado stood out as one of the best I've ever had and the coffee flight really allowed me to compare the differences between their selection of beans. It was a delight to pair the flight with my pastry. The lighter roast went well and the rounding it out after finishing with the more medium one. This is definitely a spot I'll seek out every visit to SF.

I decided to try Coffee Movement after seeing so many amazing reviews — and it definitely lived up to the hype! I ordered the iced mocha and it was delicious, perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. There was a long line when I arrived, but it moved quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. Just a heads-up: there’s no indoor seating, so be prepared to take your coffee to-go or enjoy it outside. Overall, a great spot for quality coffee and worth the visit if you’re in the area.

If you’re a coffee snob this is your happy place. Not sure which cold brew you want? They have a flight so you can taste a variety. They have a variety of other espresso drinks to choose from if cold coffee isn’t your jam. You’ll definitely be judged if you dump a cup of sugar into your coffee - black with maybe a dollop of cream is the only acceptable way to enjoy this coffee. The cafe is small, and designed to enjoy your coffee on the patio. The service was quick and friendly. Recommend if you’re serious about your coffee.

I went here very early on Sunday around 8am and there was no line. The coffee was good but I think the lack of seating or standing room in the cafe is kind of annoying. Reviews and articles said there were benches outside but there are really just kind of cheap and dirty painted rolling counters so not really a place to sit. I don’t understand why they gave me a paper cup, plastic lid, and ceramic saucer because it seems wasteful of plastic and water to clean ceramics.

Early Jan 2025 Been visiting this 3rd wave coffee house every time we are in the city and the people behind the counter knows their coffee. The brewing is definitely properly done to highlight the nuances of the beans' origins. Service is counter only with courteous diy clean up of the outdoor bar counter where you can enjoy your drinks on a good day, else takeaway. This set up is very casual but that is the style of these types of brewers. Do expect queues as this very small place has a loyal following.

Long overdue review, definitely one of my go to coffee spots in the city. Love their seasonal lattes especially the ginger spice latte. The service here is always friendly and drinks are consistent. There is no seating inside, but I usually like to pick up coffee here and walk down to washington square park or take a scenic walk to abacus row for some window shopping:)

Tucked in a small neighborhood, you’ll find this coffee shops that serves some amazing drinks. I got a cafe latte, super rich, smooth, and the perfect balance of espresso and milk. Their pastries do run out so if you get there later in the afternoon so better to go early if you’re looking to grab some. Seating is pretty limited as it’s a small space so it’s def more suited for takeout but will def come back soon!
